The war drags on, as Iran learns the power of the card they hold; low breakevens in the job market; I may never have had the hot hand in basketball, but I've always thought it's a thing!
Each country has its bucket, but they're all interconnected and oil flows freely between them. Thus, all buckets will seek the same level. There may be times when it would be to your advantage to sever that connection, but remember that the oil flows both ways. Check valves aren't allowed.
Jarod, I fear you’re moving towards becoming a polymath addictee … the number 1 gambling rule: the only winner is the house, the online sites and in the past the neighborhood bookie.
A very small datapoint- a neighbor, white guy, was ultra MAGA, now says “They’re all corrupt,” what are the odds for a D sweep in November?
The basketball probability analysis is such a nice break from the world at large. Then again, so is March Madness. Great interview and nice shout out to Illini #23 even though he never got the hot hand last night.
Is there any way the convicted felon could somehow pull US oil/natural gas out of the global bathtub? And if so, what would be the consequences of that?
I’d add this your oil bathtub image and explanation U.S. exposure to global oil prices--there are actually multiple fossil fuel bathtubs. There’s one for jet fuel, for instance. Imports make up roughly 7-10% of U.S. jet fuel consumption nationally. But that big bathtub is actually a number of regional bathtubs. National average: ~8% imported. But West Coast: ~17% imported (mostly from Asia). East/Gulf Coast: Near-zero imports, often net exporters.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Sunday morning.
has made yet clearer that the guy isn't fit to be president (something many have been commenting on for years), doesn't know what he's doing (this is obvious to me on healthcare; on Foreign Policy it is the general opionion by people who know the issue, with the only people not outright bashing the president now being Gen. Jack Keane (on Fox every 5 hours), Larry Kudlow (on Fox), and some lesser of the Fox crew.
The particular issue here, in the quoted text, being mocking a religion as part of an act of war. Not a good strategy, especially in the long run.
Numerous of your readers undoubtedly subscribe to Krugman, and the thing you quoted has Krugman seeming outraged, gloomy, and even possibly clinically depressed. (Here: https://paulkrugman.substack.com/p/living-in-hell .)
Question for Jared: what would happen to the US economy if China cashed in all their US TBills and converted all their dollar reserves to yuan, while at the same time many another countries continue to dump dollars on the market? Can the yuan become the next universal trade currency?
Perhaps a better analogy to the bathtub:
Each country has its bucket, but they're all interconnected and oil flows freely between them. Thus, all buckets will seek the same level. There may be times when it would be to your advantage to sever that connection, but remember that the oil flows both ways. Check valves aren't allowed.
Too bad the current occupants in the Executive Branch have a “ hot hand “
in making colossal mistakes on an epic scale.
Corrupt hands
